For the last 17 years, The Singletons has provided consistent support and hope to single-parent moms, dads, and children battling cancer. Life doesn't stop with a cancer diagnosis. There are bills to pay, dinners to be made, and pantries to restock with essential supplies.
"The Singletons have helped me remember that I am not alone in this," says Thell Forester, a 50-year-old single mother of two, battling stage 4 lung cancer.
At the Singleton’s H.U.B. (Help Us Build: Hope, Strength, and Community), cancer is left at the door, and families can focus on uplifting time spent as a family, creating beautiful memories even in the most difficult of times. The Singletons Beyond Books program will expand in 2024 to include learning healthy, loving, and practical life skills such as growing food in small spaces, cooking classes, and financial literacy for youth.
Single mothers, single fathers, and children who are battling cancer count on the consistent support they receive from the Singletons every month. Supporting this growth has become a challenge for the organization.
Over the past 12 months, they have seen a significant increase in families in need of The Singletons support services.
● 70% are battling a Stage 4 Cancer diagnosis.
● 65% of the single parents are unable to work.
● 25% of these households have a child battling cancer.
The average family receives $300 a month in support services from The Singletons – that’s $3,600 Annually!
These support services significantly impact Singletons Families, yet it is very much a challenge for The Singletons to meet these increasing needs.
